Nathalia police are investigating a second case of theft from an isolated historic church.St Paul’s Anglican Church (at Waikiti Creek), Taylors Rd, Kotupna, has become a victim of crime, yet again with a large slab of redgum timber used as a step to the rear of the church stolen between July 26 and 31,
Leading Senior Constable Kerry-Anne Rappell said more than one person would have been needed to lift it and a vehicle would have been used to take it away.
In December 2020 the same slab was moved but not taken, and the church was broken into.
The church was later broken into again in January 2021. The building is over 100 years old, and is located in a remote area.
Police are appealing for any information from the public regarding any suspicious activity in the area.
