A flood watch for possible major flooding has been issued for the region from Thursday, however minor flooding is no longer expected at Shepparton on Tuesday.
From Wednesday to Friday, rainfall totals of 60 to 100mm are forecast north of the Great Dividing Range.
According to advice issued on Tuesday afternoon, widespread minor to moderate flooding is expected across the flood watch area with major flooding likely in some catchments.
The catchments likely to be affected are the Broken River, Broken Creek, Seven and Castle Creeks, the Goulburn River from upstream of Lake Eildon to downstream of Seymour.
The Goulburn River at Shepparton peaked below the minor flood level of 9.5m on Monday evening and is steady at 9.2m.
The community is advised to stay informed by, monitor local conditions and remain alert.
