Mulwala Water Ski Club CEO Peter Duncan said the ski club had great attendance and an enjoyable day was had by all.
“Both the Melbourne Cup and Oaks Day functions were a great success with both days booked out,” Mr Duncan said.
“The Ski Club are pleased to be supporting local businesses Nagle’s Butchers, Blooms Florist and Brown Brothers Winery as well as entertainment Scott & Amanda, Me & the Girl and Catch 22.
“Both were very successful days with great feedback from those who attended.”
Club Mulwala Marketing and Entertainment Coordinator Trish Storer said that the club hosted around 140 people at their annual Oaks Day luncheon.
“The ANZAC Lounge was awash with fashion, colour, great music, delicious food and lots of smiles,” Ms Storer said.
“We always love the Oaks Day function as it is a lovely chance for people (mostly ladies – but not all) to get together and enjoy a happy occasion together.
“This year the club was pleased to support local charity Country Hope – a foundation that provides family centered support services to country children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.
“We are delighted that through the raffle and donations on the day, just under $4,000 was raised for the charity.”
Friends in Common (FIC) also held an Oaks Day luncheon at Burkes Hotel to raise money for those in town which are dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
“Thank you to Burke’s Hotel for hosting our Friends In Common Oaks Day, a great day was had by all those in attendance,” FIC Secretary Leon Porter said.
“Absolutely beautiful food and a fun day of raffles, spinning wheel and fashions.
“Thank you to the ladies who supported this function and raised money for a great cause.”
