Seventy per cent of child car restraints across the state aren't properly installed or used, posing a serious safety risk to young travellers in the instance of a crash.
“I have just taken up the opportunity to have a professional fitter and check restraints, so the community will know their child or grandchild is safe,” MEAC manager Jan Phillips said.
“I would encourage anyone in the community to come forward and get checked.
“This free service is open to any parents or carers in the region and could potentially save a life.”
The Safe Seats, Safe Kids session will take place between 9 am and 1 pm on Thursday, June 17 at MEAC, 23 Alexandra St, Mooroopna.
