This year's fast flowing flood waters have certainly wreaked havoc with McLean Beach, making it a hazard for any activity.

The beach landscape has been heavily eroded compared to it’s vibrant state last summer.
The swimming pontoon is now completely isolated on an island, and is now separated from the main beach by a deep scoured channel.
Local historian Ian Lea also notes that the beach where Hector McLean had his fire going for the 'learn to swim classes' has disappeared, but the tree remains where all the children used to congregate.
“Walking upstream past the original beach sees a lot more damage with a lot of scouring around trees,” he reported.
“Exposed tree stumps both in and out of the water and fallen trees pose a risk to any beach goers wandering in the area.
“Nowhere was this much damage done in the previous flood six years ago.”
While authorities have opened the Edward River for on water recreational and commercial activities, users are asked to make their own risk assessments.
The beach itself is still closed to the public, including the road into McLean Beach.
It will remain closed until Edward River Council can conduct a full safety assessment.
The only good news is that the water levels have not risen again since the peak in late November.

Todd Gallagher may not play on the big stage or be a national household name, but the Deniliquin Rams senior player did make a very distinguished list.
Todd was named among the top 150 country men players to watch out for this year in an article written in the Herald Sun on January 5.
Stating these players “continue to get the job done”, the article highlighted how much the Rams missed Todd for the first part of last season’s Murray League games.
But he would come back as a strong influence booting 45 goals in 11 games, which no doubt made him attractive for the list.
The Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club were quick to repost a brief of Todd’s mention proudly on their Facebook page.
Their comment simply read, “Congratulations Todd Gallagher; we’ll be watching.”
The Murray League Football Netball League fixture for 2023 is out.
It has Deniliquin Rams scheduled to play Rumbalara at home in round one on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Plenty of poeple out and about
The beautiful sunny days we have been blessed with this week have definitely drawn out town folk and visitors alike.
The parks have been full of activity with people utilising the many seats placed in perfect viewing areas, the playground or taking five to lay back on the grass and have a break.
The supermarkets are bustling with shoppers and the town centre is a hive of activity with people hoping to catch a post-Christmas bargain or two.
Whatever the case, it is wonderful to see our beautiful town buzzing again on the road to recovery after some devastating set backs.
