The fourth annual Mathoura Speed Shear and Annual Cancer Fundraiser will be held at Mathoura Recreation Reserve, with gates open from 10am.
The first showcase event of the day will be the chainsaw competition from 11am.
Complementing this theme, the organising committee has locked in a broad axe demonstration.
The shearing will take centre stage from 1pm.
The competition averages 40 shearers a year, and organisers are aiming to have 50 register for this year.
In between events, you can check out the market stalls at the venue or pick up some top tucker or a cold beverage from the licensed bar.
After lunch, treat yourself to some fairy floss or popcorn.
There will also be plenty for kids with face painting and a jumping castle among the activities.
The winners of the 2019 Mathoura Photography Contest will be announced at the event, with all entries on display and showcasing country life in the district.
To tie in with the event, one of the competition categories is sheep, shearing and shearing sheds. Other entry categories are farming and rural landscape; rural portraits and people (including events) and; Mathoura and the surrounding shire.
Entries will be judged at noon on the day, and followed by presentations.
Entry to the Mathoura Speed Shear and Annual Cancer Fundraiser is by gold coin donation, which will be donated to support cancer charities. But make sure to bring a little extra change for the raffles too.
