Since 1990, Clean Up Australia Day has inspired over 22 million volunteers, including communities, businesses, and governments, in a concerted effort to tackle litter and protect the region’s natural beauty.
This year, a clean sweep will be made in several areas of Greater Shepparton, organised by local businesses and community groups.
McDonald’s will once again play a significant role, with crew members from Mooroopna, Seymour, Shepparton, Shepparton North, and Wangaratta joining forces to remove litter in the week leading up to the event.
With over 4000 McDonald’s employees participating nationwide, this effort marks the largest Clean Up event to date.
The Shepparton South Rotary Club also invites everyone to their Clean Up Australia Day event at the scenic Goulburn River precinct.
Volunteers are encouraged to meet at the Aquamoves steps on Tom Collins Dve at 10am to lend a hand.
Moreover, Caring for Country seeks to nurture and preserve the Yanha Gurtji shared path, a prime location for walking, riding, and running.
Participants can join the cleanup in the open bushland off Lincoln Dve, near where the path connects to the bridge leading to the Shepparton Botanic Gardens, from 8am to 10am.
In addition to considering the natural environment, residents should prepare for the road closure of Watt Rd in Mooroopna.
From 6am to 10am, the Rotary Club of Mooroopna and Soroptimist International of Shepparton will have some good, clean fun as they host their event, ‘Clean Up Watt Rd’.
Finally, for those near the picturesque Gemmils Swamp, a Clean Up effort will begin at 10am at the end of McFarlane Rd bitumen.
Bags and gloves will be provided at each location, ensuring volunteers are well-equipped to make a difference.
