A driver was allegedly driving at 169km/h, more than double the legal limit, on Labuan Rd, on Saturday, November 4.
Police pulled over a man driving a white utility near Yarroweyah about 3pm.
The driver was heading north — not far from the Murray Valley Hwy, where a fatal crash claimed the lives of five people on April 20.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which has been impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1500
The road’s speed limit was dropped to 80km/h in mid-October.
A 20-year-old man, from a town in the local area, has been charged on summons with driving at a dangerous speed and speeding, and will appear in a magistrates’ court early next year.
Cobram Highway Patrol Sergeant William Dockery is calling on all road users to obey the road rules and drive safely.
