Man caught driving while suspended

A man who was caught driving while suspended has been fined $750.

Ntwali Ndisa, 21, formerly of Kialla, pleaded guilty in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court to driving while suspended.

Prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Anna Hanlon told the court police stopped Ndisa in Archer St, Shepparton, on January 22 after his vehicle flagged on the Automatic Number Plate Recognition device as having an owner with a suspended licence.

She told the court Ndisa’s licence had been suspended nine days earlier for three months.

When questioned by police at the time, Ndisa said he was not aware his licence was suspended and that he was “pretty sure I was on a probationary point”.

Representing himself in court, Ndisa, who now lives in the Melbourne suburb of Tarneit, said he had not been “up to date” with his mail to know about the suspension.

As well as the fine, Ndisa was also ordered to pay $87.20 in court costs.
