Greater Shepparton City Council invites artists and creators from various backgrounds, particularly First Nations artists, to submit their interest in the 2025 Cultural Diversity Week Art Exhibition.
The exhibition will be part of the Cultural Diversity Week celebrations from March 17 to 23, highlighting the tapestry of cultures that enrich the Greater Shepparton community.
A special launch event will take place on March 17 from 10am to noon at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre.
The event will feature guest speaker Dr Francis Acquah, a traditional Filipino dance, a drum performance by the Shepparton Malayalee Association, and, of course, the exhibition will be unveiled during this time.
City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali expressed his enthusiasm, noting the importance of multiculturalism in the community.
“Our community is home to people from a wide variety of cultural backgrounds, and Cultural Diversity Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this diversity,” he said.
“The art exhibition allows us to showcase the incredible talent within our region while also fostering understanding and appreciation of different cultures.”
Artists are encouraged to submit their works by midnight on Friday, February 28.
Community members can vote for their favourite pieces from the launch date until the exhibition closes on April 18.
Gift card prizes will be awarded for the top entries: $300 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third.
Additionally, one lucky voter will win a $100 prize.
