Greater Shepparton City Council has announced a kerb repair and drainage upgrade project on Wyndham St that will greatly affect traffic, especially for vehicles heading north.
Starting Monday, May 13, the northbound lane of Wyndham St, just north of the Nixon St intersection, will undergo works to fix and replace damaged concrete kerbs and channels.
Additionally, stormwater drains and pipes will be installed to relieve current drainage issues at this location.
The construction, scheduled between 6am and 3.30pm from Monday to Friday, is expected to span four weeks, weather permitting.
During this period, one of the northbound lanes will be closed to traffic, which is likely to cause significant delays for motorists travelling from Nixon St to Knight St.
Speed limits in the area will be reduced for the duration of the project, and parking bays adjacent to the worksite will be temporarily closed.
In light of these disruptions, the footpath will remain open, ensuring pedestrian access to nearby businesses is maintained.
However, vehicle access to staff and customer parking at the rear of Wyndham St businesses will be rerouted, with entrance available only from Welsford St.
Council is calling on residents, businesses and commuters to exercise extra caution when travelling through the area and adhere to all worksite and advisory signage, including directions from traffic controllers.
Motorists are also advised to consider alternative routes to avoid the construction zone.
