The Magnify Sandhurst program, meticulously designed after 12 months of research and consultation, is set to change how Catholic education is delivered across the diocese.
Cobram St Joseph’s Primary School principal Sarah Iddles said all teaching staff at her school received professional development to roll out the program most effectively.
“We want to make Sandhurst Catholic education here in Victoria the best there is in Australia,” she said.
The program will concentrate on strengthening the core areas of literacy and numeracy, while also building calm, quiet classrooms and instilling Catholic values in education.
“We will be constantly coaching and improving the teaching quality,” she said.
Teaching staff gathered at a ceremony on January 28 to mark the inauguration of the program.
The program will be introduced progressively over 2025 to 2027, Catholic Education Sandhurst executive director Kate Fogarty said.
“Magnify Sandhurst is set to transform learning for students with more specific and explicit teaching practices, bringing greater consistency and a more predictable and effective educational experience for all students,” she said.
“One of the key goals of the Magnify Sandhurst approach is to ease the workload of teachers, allowing them to focus more on how they teach rather than what they teach.
“By following a well-structured, sequential curriculum, teachers will work together to deliver the best possible education.”
