The Largest Military Vehicle Gathering in the Southern Hemisphere will be back for its 45th Corowa Swim-In & Military Gathering from Monday, to Sunday, March 10 to 16 at Corowa’s Ball Park Caravan Park.
This year’s them will be the Year of the Mack and Unimog as organised by the Khaki Vehicle Enthusiasts (KVE).
“People are welcome to enter any military vehicle they own,” KVE Secretary and Public Relations Officer Jan Thompson-Creamer told The Free Press.
“We hold trips from Wednesday to Friday and openly encourage people to visit Ball Park Caravan Park where the majority of our participants camp.”
The KVE is holding an event for veterans at Club Corowa on Thursday, March 13 and it is hoped to see as many veterans as possible.
Veterans & Vehicles Reunited
Club Corowa will host a display of restored vehicles used by the Australian armed forces over the years. These vehicles are in Corowa for the Annual Swim-In & Military Vehicle Gathering.
The display will be in the Club Corowa car park on Thursday from 11am till 2pm and all ex-service veterans and personnel are invited along to be reunited with vehicles they may well have driven or rode in.
A military band from Kapooka is also arranged to be there.
On Saturday, March 15 there will be a ‘come and line the streets’ for the big parade which will leave Bangerang Park at 9am and come down Sanger Street then out to the showgrounds.
“We have a static display of all the participating vehicles at Corowa Showgrounds, alongside our Swap Meet,” Jan said.
