Longwood has got on with planning for next year after the club announced the reappointment of senior football coach Mick Galvin for next season.
The announcement on Monday will have Galvin steer the Redlegs’ senior football outfit for a third season.
Galvin — who joined the club at the start of last year — earned the praise of Longwood president Ricki Shiner, who said it was an easy decision for the committee to re-sign Galvin.
“The club is really happy and pleased to have Mick stay on as coach,” Shiner said.
“He has deserved the chance to coach a full pre-season and season, we've seen enough from him during his time as coach.
“He joined the club during a hard time and we feel that he has built some good momentum for the club.
“It was a simple decision for the committee to reappoint Galvo for next season.”
Shiner said the club had been circling Galvin's signature before the events of last week.
The league revealed its decision to cancel this year's season on Thursday, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“The club has been looking at it for some time now,” Shiner said.
“We didn't want to be sitting around at the end of the year trying to bring someone new in.
“Mick and his family are a great fit for our club and have embraced the club since they arrived.
