In August 2020, Moira Shire Council sent letters to residents near Murray Heights Reserve asking them to complete a survey on the installation of the playground.
The survey asked families how they used the park, the ages of children in their family and what activities they liked to do at a playground.
A total of 32 responses were received.
The survey outcome showed a wide range of ages of children in the neighbourhood and the park now includes favourite pieces of equipment including swings, slides and climbing frames.
Murray Heights local Sarah Davies said it was wonderful to consult with the council.
“It's a really good mixture of what the younger kids can use as well as the older kids,” she said.
“It blends in really nicely to the surroundings, there's other parks that are really bright but this one really suits the environment.
“It's easily the best park in Cobram, they've done a great job and we're very lucky.”
Local resident Paul Macheda said it was perfect timing for the summer holiday period.
“It's good that they've got a playground that's close, and if you look at the other playgrounds in the area they're nothing like this,” he said.
Moira Shire Council's infrastructure general manager Andrew Close said the playground was a worthy project.
“Council has received requests in previous years for a neighbourhood playground in this section of Cobram, and during the last budget process council approved the allocation of the necessary funds to complete,” he said.
Installation works were completed on December 14 last year.
