In the lead-up to the man in red coming down chimneys and eating cookies across the world, Greater Shepparton City Council held a Christmas Campaign encouraging people in the area to shop local.
Thousands of people shopped in the 94 participating businesses, but only three people could take home the prize.
On the fateful day, City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Shane Sali and staff at I Love This Shop drew the names of three shopping spree winners.
All three prizes were a shopping spree at I Love This Shop, with first getting $1500, second $1000 and third $500.
Shannon Gooiker won the top prize after putting in her entry at I Love This Shop, second went to Kira Bice who shopped at Proud Poppy and third to Debbie Gazzora who entered at Stephens Jewellers.
“The Greater Shepparton Great Christmas Campaign was a fantastic success, bringing our community together to celebrate the festive season,” Cr Sali said.
“It was wonderful to see so many people supporting our local businesses, exploring the Christmas trail, enjoying the festive decorations across our towns and participating in the Santa on the Move activities.”
Cr Sali said it was important to keep shopping local, even though the campaign had finished.
“We strongly encourage everyone to continue shopping local and supporting our businesses, not just during the holidays, but throughout the year,” he said.
“Supporting local is vital for keeping our community vibrant and thriving.”
