About 10 workers from the Mooroopna, Shepparton and Shepparton North McDonald’s got together at Victoria Park Lake on Sunday, March 3 to participate in Clean Up Australia Day, hand-removing rubbish from the environment
McDonald’s Australia has been a founding partner of Clean Up Australia Day since 1989.
During that time, McDonald’s Australia has donated over $5 million to help Clean Up Australia continue its mission to inspire and empower communities to clean up, fix up and conserve the environment.
The event is the country’s largest community-based environmental event.
During this time, more than 136,000 employees from Macca’s have participated in Clean Up Australia Day events.
This year, over 4000 employees from over 400 McDonald’s restaurants nationwide have committed to cleaning up their local area, including volunteers from McDonald's Cobram, Mooroopna, Shepparton and Shepparton North, Swan Hill and Wangaratta.
McDonald’s Australia licensee Tully Lyster said McDonald’s was committed to playing an active role in the communities it served and caring for the environment, by keeping the local neighbourhood tidy and waste out of outdoor spaces and nature.
“As a local northern Victorian business, we are proud to support local causes and groups that are important to our customers and people,” he said.
“It’s inspiring to see so many of our crew continue to roll up their sleeves to help us conserve our environment and remove litter.”
