Mr Mason was presented the award on Wednesday, October 23, by Master Builders regional member engagement officer Veronica Larkin.
Mrs Larkin said the award was recognition of long-time partnership with the association.
“We recognise the value of membership and the longevity of our members ... because we have such a heap of members regionally that are long-time milestone members,” she said.
“Ross falls into that category and we are just very very grateful for his support because it is such a long time.”
Although Mr Mason was only recognised for his 40 years with Master Builders, he has worked in the industry for 65 years.
Mr Mason said he had seen many changes in his line of work over the years.
“I started at 16 as a joiner and then I got into building,” he said.
“I started in an era when you didn’t have to have a builder’s licence. You had to get a permit but you didn’t have to have a license.
“There was also no power saws or electric tools, it was all hand tools on the roof and for everything ... so I’ve seen some changes.”
Mr Mason owns his own business specialising in new home builds, renovations, extensions and commercial fit-outs.
At 77, he is still working as a builder and has no plans of stopping any time soon.
