While a shorter season than the norm, the next three live music sessions are spread across the region, each featuring local acts in an intimate setting — and tickets are selling at a rapid pace, organiser Jamie Lea said.
The Winter Sessions are known for their cosy ambience, unity of music lovers and showcasing of local names, and this week’s leg is taking Toolamba by storm.
On Saturday, June 18, in the second instalment of the four shows, Goulburn Valley indie folk singer Jessica Lorraine is taking the stage as a headline act, followed by Drew Walker and her full band.
Ms Lea said the two women were “power houses solo” but with a band behind them, the magic was rare and real.
In a sold out first show, Dookie Hall was radiating energy with patrons on Saturday, May 28, all joined by the collective love of live music.
Ms Lea said the annual Winter Sessions were about connecting small towns and taking live music straight to them.
“We had so much gratitude from Dookie locals appreciating the fact they could just walk home, but we also offer the option of a bus from Shepp so we know the audience can be anyone, from anywhere, who values and respects live music,” she said.
“Plus, we also get to explore these beautiful small towns and their gorgeous halls, it’s a small town halls tour and we are loving it.”
Shepparton duo JB & Me headlined the first show, and though encountering a speed bump the day prior in second act Briana Lee falling ill, the husky tones of Beechworth’s Liv Cartledge stepped up to the plate.
“People were laughing and crying and no word of a lie, you could hear a pin drop,” Ms Lea said.
“The audiences adored them.“
The Toolamba Hall event will run from 5.30pm to 9.30pm on Saturday, June 18. Tickets are available for bus travel until exhausted. For more information and tickets, visit https://www.thewintersessions.com/
The third event will take place on Saturday, July 23 at Kialla Central Hall and the final show will be on Saturday, August 27 at a secret location.
