The concert was the third one that a group of Lifestyle Communities Shepparton residents had produced, with equally successful shows in 2017 and 2018.
The concerts were planned for every 18 months, but lockdown restrictions prevented them from being held in 2020 and 2021.
The 2022 show was produced by Di Burgmann and Garry Semmens, who spent many hours arranging and co-ordinating the entire production with the support of an able concert crew.
Ms Burgmann said the success of the pre-lockdown events and the influx of new people into the village meant conditions were ripe for a new show.
It was also deemed a good way for the residents to come together.
“It was an opportunity to laugh, enjoy and connect,” Ms Burgmann said.
The show included singing, music, poetry recitals and comedy skits.
Each social group within the community planned their own act and this was complemented by individual performances.
Residents and management also pitched in to make the show possible, with multiple people working on costume creation, composing songs, rehearsing, sourcing props or otherwise performing.
As for the response to the 2022 event, Ms Burgmann said it was a hit.
“Residents were rapt and can’t wait for the next one,” she said.
“It was a humorous concert. I could hear the laughter from backstage.”
The next performance is planned for April 2024.
