Shepparton Foodshare is searching for a new executive officer who embodies the values and spirit of its community-driven service and will take bold steps when necessary, but also walk supportively alongside their team.
The not-for-profit’s acting executive officer, Cheryl Hammer, said the food service had a well-credentialed, skills-based board made up of experienced members and four recently instated highly qualified members.
“The next executive officer will lead a committed and innovative team of staff and volunteers who are the backbone of Foodshare,” she said.
“It is a very important time at Shepparton Foodshare with an unprecedented demand on our service and the need for us to respond in an efficient, appropriate and empathetic way.”
Ms Hammer said the executive officer position should appeal to an experienced and qualified executive officer who would work directly with the board to deliver Shepparton Foodshare’s strategic vision to lead a co-ordinated response to address hunger in our diverse community.
“Our ideal candidate thrives on problem-solving and is motivated by the challenge of finding innovative solutions to complex issues,” she said.
The board is hoping to find an executive officer who has a proven track record of strategic planning, resource management and community engagement.
“We value a leader with the ability to lead from the front, be a supportive presence and foster an environment where others can step up and shine,” Ms Hammer said.
Shepparton Foodshare was established in 2012.
The service rescues and receives food donations to distribute to local emergency relief agencies, meal programs, schools, neighbourhood houses and faith organisations in the Goulburn Valley and beyond.
It partners with supermarkets, businesses, manufacturers, growers and other food rescue agencies and provides nutritious food, extends shelf life and prevents edible food from entering landfill.
Shepparton Foodshare is operated largely by volunteers who put in more than 150 hours weekly and is part of a state-wide network of regional food rescue agencies.
“If you are passionate about making a difference and have the drive to lead Shepparton Foodshare into a bright future, we would love to hear from you,” Ms Hammer said.
“Join us in our mission to support and uplift our community.”
