Leading bookie Sportsbet has Labor the $1.15 favourite to be the next sworn-in government on the eve of tomorrow’s State Election.
The Coalition, made up of the Liberal and National parties, is the $5 outsider.
What is more intriguing is the type of government formed market.
A Labor majority is still the favourite at $1.65, but Labor minority has firmed into $2.95.
For the Coalition to form a majority is $18, with a Coalition minority at $8.
Either party needs to win 45 seats to claim majority government.
Labor has a notional 58 seats compared with the 55 it won in 2018 thanks to electoral redistribution.
The Liberals hold a notional 19 seats, down from the 21 it won in 2018.
The Nationals hold six seats and Mildura, currently held by independent Ali Cupper, has become an ultra-marginal Nationals seat.
One of the six incumbents for the Nationals is the Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh.
Sportsbet said the battle for this seat is a one-act affair, with Mr Walsh, also the Nationals Leader, the $1.01 favourite to win a sixth term in parliament.
Independent Andrea Otto has been installed as the $14 second elect, with Labor’s Damien Hurrell at $21.
John Brownstein (Greens) $51, Glenys Leung (Animal Justice Party) $101, Cameron Macpherson (Family First Victoria) $101 and Katia Bish (Freedom Party of Victoria) $101 round out the market.
