After a few years away people across the region came out to support the Kyabram Agricultural Show at the weekend.

Kyabram Agricultural Horticultural and Pastoral Society’s Janelle McDonald said despite the numbers being down in some sections it was a great return after years away.

“The support from the town was amazing. There were a lot of people through the gate. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback. I think it was worth the effort of running it again,” she said.
“There was a great horse show and there seemed to be lots of horses on the ground. The dog show is really well supported.

“We didn’t have a lot of huge entries in the craft section. That was down a little bit on three years ago. But overall, the cookery was really great. The photography numbers were up. Overall it wasn’t too bad.”
Some of the bigger attractions on the day were the monster truck and Gemma the Giraffe.
“The monster truck was busy all day. I know he was flat out all day. He really enjoyed his day and his ride was really good too,” Ms McDonald said.
“I think Gemma Giraffe probably was a bit of a favourite.”

Although there were rides for some of the older kids to enjoy, Ms McDonald said which ones came and which ones were available weren’t decided by the society.
“I need to put out there that people don’t realise there aren’t a lot of huge, big rides in the sideshows, but we have no control over that. They just come under their own guild and they just come and go. We can’t book them in or anything. They just come and do their thing,” she said.

Ms McDonald is already looking forward to the next Kyabram Show, hopefully with plenty of help from other people.
“We were disappointed we didn’t have the animal nursery, but we are working on that for next year already. Just didn’t have anyone to run it and didn’t have any animals available. But next year we’re looking at making that bigger and better to bring it back,’ she said.

“By the Facebook comments I’m getting, I’ll have a few more people coming on to help and support the society from now on too, which will be absolutely amazing.”

Ms McDonald said the weekend couldn’t have happened without people showing out to support the event.
“I just want to thank everybody and I hope they all enjoyed it.”
