While Mueller and Newman play in different competitions, Mueller with the Kyabram Redbacks in the Shepparton association and Newman with Fire Brigade in the Goulburn Murray competition, they are teammates with Hurley's Hotel Hounds in the Goulburn Valley Bush Bash League.
They will open the batting in the final round of that competition at Kyabram Recreation Reserve at 2pm on Sunday, January 29, having smashed the winning runs in an unbroken partnership in round two.
Mueller scored his second century of the season on Saturday against Tatura and now has 469 runs at an average of 78.17. That average was bolstered by his 110 not-out innings on Saturday.
Newman hasn't scored a century this season, but fell just five runs short on Saturday against Cooma and also scored 90 for the Hounds in their round one match. He has two other half-centuries for Fire Brigade this season and a total of 455 runs at 75.53.
The pair is still a long way behind Echuca’s Matt Hinks, who has four scores of 80 or more this season and a runs total of 571 at an average of 71.38.
