The round eight win at Undera Recreation Reserve moved Nagambie into second position on the Kyabram District League netball ladder after Dookie United lost to Stanhope.
Nagambie’s strict defence played a pivotal role in the win, leading the competition for the least amount of goals conceded.
The inexperienced Lakers were ruthless, which earned the praise of their playing coach.
‘‘I thought we played our best four-quarter match of netball for the season,’’ Sanderson said.
‘‘We had a number of girls step up and fill the void made from four of our regular starters.
‘‘I was extremely pleased with how we adapted to the changes and played a solid hour of netball.
‘‘We’ve been working hard at playing a full game and making sure we shut teams out quicker, which I thought we did on the weekend.’’
Sanderson highlighted the performances of Sophie Moore, Sharni Lloyd and Keeley Woosham in the strong win.
‘‘Sophie stepped up in her first (A-grade) match and played all day at wing attack and did a great job,’’ she said.
‘‘Sharni had a terrific game at goal attack and I thought she did a great job mentoring the three young players around her.
‘‘And Keeley’s effort really stood out to me, she just gives it her all each game.’’
