Kirwans Bridge residents to shape emergency plan

Strathbogie Shire Council is inviting Kirwans Bridge residents to share their knowledge to help create an emergency action plan.

Local Emergency Action Plans (LEAPs) have been developed in Violet Town, Avenal and Euroa, with plans in progress in Nagambie and Strathbogie Tableland.

Strathbogie Shire Administrator Peter Stephenson is pleased that another area will benefit from this program.

“I have seen the LEAP plans that have been completed, and it will give each community the security of having emergency directions and details documented,” he said.

“We know that talking through scenarios and documenting who may be at risk or how to exit your area in the case of a bushfire are all terribly important at the time of an incident.”

Kirwans Bridge residents can register their interest to join the steering committee on the Council’s Share Strathbogie website or by calling 1800 065 993

Interest must be registered before Friday, August 23.

“I do hope that these plans, when in place, assist the community to feel confident that everything has been taken into consideration should disaster occur,” Mr Stephenson said.
