Kebab Kingz on Punt Rd in Cobram opened on Tuesday, December 12 and has been packed with crowds since.
Kebab Kingz owner Reza Naseri said it was a case of the perfect opportunity presenting itself.
“I was looking to open a kebab shop somewhere, and then there was no kebab shop here,” he said.
“So I thought this should be a big demand, and it has actually been amazing.”
Kebabs are a mainstay of the Australian food scene, so much so SBS did a show set in Melbourne and Sydney highlighting their popularity.
Mr Naseri believes the kebab’s popularity is down to the fact that they’re both fresh and filling, as opposed to other fast food options.
They are also healthy, and packed with fresh vegetables.
Though it is a kebab shop, Kebab Kingz is much more than that.
Along with the traditional lamb and chicken kebabs, there are falafels, HSPs, iskenders, grilled Adana and a whole host of other foods.
Mr Naseri has his favourite item on the menu.
“Mixed HSP,” he said.
“Lamb and chicken mix, chips, cheese and you put your sauce on top; garlic, barbecue, chilli or whatever else.”
Though Mr Naseri hopes to grow his family business, that desire is second to his priority of ensuring excellent quality and consistent customer satisfaction.
“The main thing is to make it good food consistently and have the customer satisfied consistently,” he said.
“That’s our main priority. Service and quality of food is number one for us.”
With the store flat out with customer demand, Mr Naseri said he is incredibly thankful for the trust and support of the Cobram community.
“I want to say thank you to everyone, the people of Cobram and the community, and I want to tell those who haven’t tried it yet just to come in and say hi and give it a try,” he said.
