The Kyabram District Health Service’s COVID-19 vaccination hub has been in full swing at its new location, last week vaccinating hundreds of locals aged 12 and up, according to COVID-19 vaccination clinic co-ordinator Andrea Windridge.
Situated at the rear of the Kyabram Community & Learning Centre on Lake Rd, the hub has four purpose-built cubicles, a generous waiting room and virtually no queues when the Free Press attended on Monday.
The response of the region’s under-16s had been a highlight, Ms Windridge said.
“The 12- to 15-year-olds have really been coming forward. We need a parent to attend with them and it's has been fabulous to see them so keen to get vaccinated,” she said.
While appointments are required to receive a vaccine, anyone is welcome to attend and discuss the procedure with staff.
“We want the community to come and put their hand up and come make an appointment. If they've got any concerns about getting the vaccine, we want them to come and talk to us. They don't have to make an appointment for that discussion and we can help them make their decisions.”
The hub is offering both Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines and is open from 9am to 4.30pm, Monday to Wednesday.
