The Tigers have secured the services of ex-AFL talent Joel Tippett for their next campaign, the former North Melbourne and Gold Coast player - who also spent time on Brisbane's list - joining 136-game Kangaroo Sam Wright in yellow and black.
Wright and Tippett crossed paths at North Melbourne and have remained good friends since.
“We're really rapt to have Joel on board,” Katamatite co-coach Jedd Wright said.
“We know his playing ability of course, but he's also going to be a ripping bloke to have around the club.
“Sam and him are really good mates and their partners are great friends as well, so when Sam signed with us Joel was already keen to come across and help out.”
Tippett, who turns 32 later this month, played nine games in the AFL ranks and most recently has been holding down the full back position for Williamstown in the VFL - playing 100 games for the Seagulls and finishing second in the club's best-and-fairest last year.
The Tigers will move into 2021 with a stronger list than was planned for the cancelled 2020 season by virtue of adding Tippett and retaining all of its players.
Tom Buzza will act as co-coach alongside Wright, with Travis Thompson and Sam Wright filling out the rest of the coaching group.
“It's been great that we've been able to re-sign our entire group,” Wright said.
“Tommy and myself will be co-coaches but Sam and Travis will be on equal standing with us. Sam will really guide the rest of us through it with his experience and knowledge and we'll do a lot of the hands-on stuff during the week because we'll be around more.”
The ex-AFL talent on Katamatite's list will also focus heavily on teaching the next generation of players at the club and helping them reach their respective goals in the game.
“We're really on the front foot with all of our juniors,” Wright said.
“We've got fantastic junior coaches on board and we'll definitely have a thirds and fourths team next year, but we're always looking for more numbers at every level.”
