Shepparton FoodShare board chair Jeremy Rensford said FoodShare's annual fundraiser Make A Meal of June was set to return to its original format of a sit-down auction and meal at Emerald Bank's The Woolshed, until COVID-19 restrictions again impacted the event.
Now, fundraiser organisers have revived the takeaway-style format which ran last year.
Mr Rensford said cancelling this year's event wasn't an option.
“With no guaranteed funding, Shepparton FoodShare relies on its own fundraising efforts to operate,” Mr Rensford said.
He said during June, FoodShare aimed to raise $50,000 to cover around a third of its annual operating costs.
Mr Rensford said this year's annual fundraising campaign had been kicked off by a generous donation of $20,000 from the Attwood Trust, who are long-time supporters of FoodShare.
“We can’t come together via a dinner again this year but we can still all come together for the cause whilst enjoying The Woolshed’s beautiful meals at home,” he said.
Mr Rensford thanked The Woolshed operators Cam and Angela Mangiameli for their support of Make a Meal of June.
“They have been amazing supporters of FoodShare, we know that packing the meals and home delivery requires so much additional work for them so we are very grateful for their willingness to help us ensure our fundraiser is a success albeit with the current challenges,” he said.
