Located in the SAM building, the visitor centre welcomes over 37,000 visitors annually, making volunteers crucial in promoting Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley.
Being a volunteer has many benefits, including attending social events, exclusive tours and attractions, obtaining your Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate and developing professional skills.
Successful candidates should be aged over 18, and be dedicated individuals who are passionate and ready to welcome guests.
While customer service experience is a bonus, no previous experience is needed, with full training provided.
Greater Shepparton City Council visitor experience co-ordinator Maree Glasson said the centre was so much more than maps and information.
“We have seen an increasingly high rate of visitors to the region all wanting to explore the unique offerings across Shepparton and Goulburn Valley,” she said.
“We need enthusiastic and knowledgeable locals who can represent our dynamic culture, show off our friendly hospitality and help visitors get the most out of their stay.
“I encourage anyone who is passionate about the region to come in and say hello and speak to us about volunteer opportunities.”
Volunteers would need to give four hours of their time on a regular basis, provide excellent customer service and assist with merchandising and sales, supporting the day-to-day operations of the centre.
