The walk is the major fundraising event of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund, with Corowa hosting its own walk on Sunday, November 10.
While the main walk will occur in Albury on the same day, residents of Corowa, Wahgunyah, Rutherglen and the surrounding areas are invited to participate in a local walk to raise funds as the Corowa and District team.
“We are excited to continue making a difference in our community and over the past five years have raised an incredible $52,000,” organising committee member Casandra Hughes said.
“We invite all residents to join us on the day and participate in raising funds for this much needed facility. 2023 saw the Corowa and District team take out the Town Cup award.
“We are determined to do even more this year.”
Team Corowa will start and finish their walk at Rowers Park. Participants can opt for the 10km walk that will commence at 8am, or a 5km option for those seeking a shorter distance which will commence at 9am.
The route will travel along some of our amazing river walking tracks.
As the team gears up for the event, they will be easily spotted around the region in their distinctive yellow Sunshine Walk T-shirts.
In the lead-up to the walk, they will be selling raffle tickets in front of Gyles Newsagency on Saturday, November 2, and at Rutherglen Newsagency. So, keep an eye out for the team and support this worthy cause by purchasing raffle tickets or making a donation.
Now in its sixth year, the Sunshine Walk aims to bring people together to raise funds and awareness for cancer services in our Riverina and North-East region.
The walk is not competitive and is about enjoying a day out with family and friends while supporting a great cause.
