This year is set to be the biggest ever clean up with 1.07 million volunteers helping to clean up over 16,000 sites nation-wide with Yarrawonga taking part to tidy up our section of the world.
As was the case last year, the Rotary Club will be assisted by Helen White and the Lake Mulwala Lions Club as well as Belinda Pendergast and a Yarrawonga College P-12 contingent.
The Rotarians will focus on the Yarrawonga Showgrounds, beginning at the Rotary pavilion and making their way along the Yarrawonga College P-12 as well as the cricket ovals and surrounding areas.
Rotarian Ross Lloyd said the Rotary Club would love to see plenty of community volunteers helping out for a couple of hours to help in this nationwide-cause day.
Volunteers should meet at the Yarrawonga Showgrounds Rotunda beside the main pavilion.
“Any locals wishing to support the clean up are most welcome on the day,” Mr Lloyd said.
“I have been doing this for 35 years and each year we still manage to fill up a small truck load
“It is not too late to register, although it is too late to get your own kit. Rest assured we have all of the equipment in place and just need the personnel on the day.
“Just bring a hat, good shoes and water, we’ll provide equipment like gloves.
“This is open to anyone so the more people we have, the less time is required of us all, but we do need volunteers to keep Yarrawonga beautiful.
“Just register by visiting www.cleanup.org.au, select clean up events then register a clean up. Select community then enter your details alongside the Yarrawonga Mulwala Rotary Club, and come along on the day and help us to keep Yarrawonga clean.”
