John Forbes dies aged 79

Mr Forbes is believed to have fallen into the water as he attempted to fill a bucket of water for his garden.

He had late-stage Parkinson ’s disease and previously battled bowel cancer.

Mr Forbes is survived by his wife Fay, two sons and six grandchildren.

In his lifetime, Forbes met some of the world’s most famous sporting athletes through his work as a national promotions manager for sportswear company Puma.

He collected countless items which are now on display at the Rochester Sports Museum.
