Former tennis star Jelena Dokic stopped by the GV Hotel, Shepparton on Wednesday, November 13 to talk about her new documentary, Unbreakable.
The event, hosted by the Greater Shepparton Business Network, saw Ms Dokic share her experiences of over coming personal challenges, including family violence, mental health struggles and self-doubt to an audience of 150 people.
GSBN board member Michaela Sargeant said you could have heard a pin drop as Ms Dokic spoke.
“Everyone was absolutely captivated by her and showed her such respect, a testament to the Shepparton community and those who love and support her and have followed her inspiring journey,” she said.
“This was an incredible account of how to turn things around with the help of the right support people by your side.
“She cited Todd Woodbridge as a rock for her, who many would know as a respected commentator and former tennis player for Australia ‒ and urged people to ‘find their Todd’ to help them through.”
Ms Dokic was here for an ‘In Conversation’ event, which is held to connect people across the business, sporting and general communities in Shepparton.
“We look forward to the next ‘In Conversation’ event and should be so lucky to attract someone like Jelena again in the future; it was a thrill to meet her, work with her to prepare for the event and learn from her story of strength and determination,” Ms Sargeant said.
