Shepparton Theatre Arts Group is putting on a show in every sense of the word with its newest performance, STAG sings the Gershwin Song Book.
The new concert series is inspired by one of the most popular composers of the 20th century, George Gershwin.
“We're transforming the Bakehouse into an intimate pop-up jazz club and delivering some soulful, new music, which will hopefully keep the winter blues away,” STAG publicity officer Nicky Pummeroy said.
In a stream of jazz and pizazz, the three shows will be guided by master of ceremonies Laura Varapodio, as the music winds through a catalogue of Hollywood and Broadway delights.
STAG names Cindy Doherty, Stevie Renee, Stefania Panella and Robbie Maher will be accompanied by hit musos Wade Gregory and Brian Matthews, all supported by maître d’ Steve Condron.
“The songs themselves — if anyone's a Gershwin fan they will know that they're classic and just in for an enjoyable night,” Ms Pummeroy said.
The show will be at Bakehouse Black Box Theatre at 17 Wheeler St; cabaret seating of five is available for audiences, with drinks at bar prices.
The shows are on Friday, June 24 at 7pm, Saturday, June 25 at 6pm — purposely earlier so audiences can catch White Night — and a session on Sunday, June 26 at 2pm.
Tickets are $30, available at https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/stag-singsthe-gershwin-song-book-tickets-344063732887?aff=erelexpmlt
