The Central Coast Mariners star will leave the A-League at the end of the current season to join German club VfB Stuttgart, capping a whirlwind 18 months for the former Goulburn Valley Suns' talent.
Kuol quickly went from bullying National Premier League defences to cutting through top-tier teams like a hot knife through butter after initially earning his stripes with the Mariners Academy before stepping up to the big leagues.
But this latest - and much-speculated in recent weeks - advancement for Kuol's career is by far the largest and most exciting.
"As a club we are very proud of Alou, and of having given him an opportunity through our academy to make his mark on the A-League, and to now move to a big club in the Bundesliga," Mariners head of football Ken Schembri said in a statement tonight. "Alou is a product of our scholarship program that is supported by a number of partners, including Anton Tagliaferro, and our thanks goes to all involved for their continuous support, especially Mike Charlesworth for his ongoing support of the club.
"We believe that we have a number of youngsters coming through our Academy pipeline now who are capable of achieving great things in the future. On top of this we continue to scout the country for the best young talent available."
Kuol's transfer will be enacted after the current A-League season finishes, with plenty of unfinished business for the Shepparton product to take care of on home soil before the campaign is over - starting tomorrow night with a clash against Western United.
"The GV Suns are so proud and honoured to have been a part of Alou’s football development and education in the past seven years," the Suns said in a statement released earlier this month as speculation about Kuol's impending overseas signing grew to fever pitch.
"As a club whose focus is on delivering the best quality education, progression and improvement for junior players, we have been pleased to financially support the development of Alou and three of his younger brothers with full scholarship positions with in the club from their commencement with our program."
Kuol's younger brothers Garang and Teng are also in the A-League system, with the Mariners and Melbourne Victory respectively.
