Toby Miles would love to know the history of his car.

No doubt, being an ex-police car, it would come with more intriguing stories than most.
Alas, he’s not sure where to start uncovering its secrets, so the mystery of his 1995 Holden VS SS BT1 Commodore may forever remain that.
The Katunga father of three bought his beast three years ago in Melbourne.
To some it’s ‘just another Commodore’, but this Iron Lion’s owner loves it.

It’s not his daily ride, more of a Sunday cruiser, but he does take it out of the stable for most local car shows and Shepparton meets when he can.
Toby said unfortunately it had not won any awards at shows because many see it as “just another Commodore”.
“But I love it,” he said.
“It doesn’t come out a lot, but when it does there’s nothing better than that ‘Iron Lion’ V8 sound.”
Toby said his favourite thing to do with his car was take his kids — Evelyn, 6, Levi, 4, and Lincoln, 1 — for a drive in it, particularly to car shows.

“They call it ‘Dad’s racecar’ and they love it just as much as me,” he said.
“It’s the best thing to see the joy on their faces when you give the engine a little rev.”
Since taking ownership of the classic, Toby has had it resprayed white.
Toby takes his beast to local car meets and shows whenever he gets the chance.

He also lowered it and fitted 20-inch Simmons wheels, tinted the windows, upgraded the ignition and replaced the original interior with a VS Calais interior.
Besides the fresh paint, he’s done all its custom modifications himself.
In future, he’d like to have the exhaust rebuilt and possibly the engine cam updated for a “gruntier note”.
“It’s in the one-day pile,” Toby said with a laugh.
