The shelter is desperate to find good homes for several cats as it deals with an influx of animals.
“Our shelter staff care deeply about all the animals in their care and want nothing more than to see these loveable cats and kittens go to good homes,” council’s sustainable development director Geraldine Christou said.
“The shelter has experienced pregnant cats, cats with litters and kittens being surrendered.
“The increase in abandoned cats and kittens is not unique to greater Shepparton, however our facility has limited space and we are looking for new forever homes for them.’’
The latest price drop means cats more than 12 months old are now $20, with kittens only $50.
The regular fee is $100 for both cats and kittens. There are currently 50 cats ready to go to new homes .
All cats are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, treated for worms and fleas and vet-checked.
All pets are registered at the time of adoption if being re-homed in City of Greater Shepparton or with their own council.
“Adopting an animal from the animal shelter is a rewarding experience for both our community and animals,” Ms Christou said.
“Our staff are working hard to find the right home for each animal and want to ensure every new home is long-lasting and the right fit.

Residents could meet the animals available for adoption and make an application by making an appointment to visit the Shepparton Animal Shelter on Wanganui Rd, Shepparton.
