Visitors have been treated to a diverse array of displays, from the work of established local artists and craft enthusiasts to charming creations by Avenel Primary School children.
This month-long celebration of the town’s artistic community kicked off with a bang at the Nomad Art Gallery.
The exhibition, aptly titled SPRING, showcases the talents of four local artists. Over 60 art enthusiasts flocked to the opening to admire the works of Gus Leunig, Ann Cremean, Rosa Purbrick and Angus Cameron.
Their pieces run the gamut from contemporary landscape paintings to prints on paper that capture the essence of the local environment.
Gallery director Rose Cameron said the exhibition was a testament to the years of dedication each artist had put into their practice.
“The exhibition teaches us to see and appreciate the world around us,” she said.
“The artists have skilfully captured the varied textures and forms of this beautiful region of hills and rivers.”
Meanwhile, Strathbogie Shire Council’s ARTBOX at Jubilee Park is playing host to an eclectic mix of local crafts and artwork by the newly formed Sketchers group until the end of September.
Music also took centre stage in the town, with Katie and the Kiwi serenading guests at the gallery opening and The Skerricks livening up the Avenel September market.
Both performances were made possible through support of Strathbogie Shire Council through its Flood Recovery funding.
To add to the festive atmosphere, local wines from Box Grove winery were on offer.
