A holiday rental in Shepparton has been allegedly used for sex work, according to police.

Police have arrested a woman in relation to the alleged operation of an illegal brothel at a residence.

Police allege the woman booked a short-term rental property in Shepparton, before advertising illegal sex services between Saturday, June 24 and Wednesday, June 28.

Shepparton Divisional Response Unit and Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit executed a search warrant at the property on Wednesday, June 28.

A 50-year-old Blackburn South woman was arrested and interviewed in relation to alleged Sex Work Act offences and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

She was released pending summons.

The arrest comes as Shepparton police continue to crack down on the operation of illegal brothels at residential addresses in Shepparton.

The investigation remains ongoing.

“Our number one priority is community safety, and Victoria Police will continue to take all allegations of illegal sex work seriously and will investigate based on the intelligence received,” Shepparton Divisional Response Unit Sergeant Jacob Sinclair said.
