Deputy Leader of the Opposition and Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley said the work needed to upgrade the facility was very clear when she visited the site last year.
She returned on Monday to announce the election promise.
“As well as a renewal to the external cladding, the funding would allow additional work to repair deterioration of the internal walls, including replastering,” she said.
“The hall is not only used by the local RSL sub-branch for its activities, it’s also a meeting and activity base for a range of other community groups.
“In restoring the building, I hope it can remain the wonderful community hub it has been for many more years to come,” Ms Ley said.
The RSL and local Rotary Club will both make a major financial contribution to the project, of $30,000 and $10,000 respectively.
Ms Ley said this indicates just how important this upgrade is for the Tocumwal community.
Tocumwal Rotary Club spokesperson, Kerry Davies, said the hall was built and originally used by US Air Force and Royal Australian Air Force and personnel as an officer’s mess during World War II.
It also served as a meeting room for the Women's Auxiliary Australian Air Force, which managed operations at the nearby airfield.
“This building has a truly symbolic and historic significance to our town, with an ongoing connection to our veterans and local residents,” Ms Davies said.
“It would be wonderful to see the hall receive this much needed makeover.”
Among the top priorities of a Dutton Liberal Government will be to grow a stronger regional Australia.
“Ensuring country communities have the essential services they need is all part of our plan to get Australia back on track,” Ms Ley said.
