Police allege the pursuit started in Numurkah about 12.30 pm, but was called off in Numurkah and the police air wing helicopter was called in to follow up as it made its way through Shepparton and then to Echuca.
A man was caught by police in Echuca about 2.30 pm.
Numurkah’s Chace Monoghan, 22, faced Bendigo Magistrates’ Court briefly on Thursday.
He is charged with driving a vehicle knowing that he had been given a direction to stop by a police officer, as well as unlawfully recklessly engaging in conduct by driving on the wrong side of the road at a police vehicle that may have placed a person in danger of serious injury.
He is also charged with failing to stop while being pursued by police, driving in a dangerous manner, and driving while disqualified.
He also faces one charge of theft of 48 litres of diesel fuel from January 13.
In total, Mr Monoghan was brought before the court on a total of 53 charges, stemming from alleged incidents from December 26 last year to January 13.
He did not enter a plea to any of the charges.
He was remanded in custody to next appear before Shepparton Magistrates’ Court in February.
