Goulburn Valley Seniors Association will be holding a seniors’ festival in October, including a seniors’ market and garage sale on October 22.
Members of the 60-strong association will be selling food, handicrafts, plants, pre-loved knick-knacks and clothes, as well as providing entertainment including singing, dancing and ukulele accompaniment.
It’s part of an active month for the association, which will also have a stall at the St Georges Rd Food Festival on October 16 and hold a trip to flower festival Floriade in Canberra from September 30 to October 2.
It’s the first time the group has travelled since the pandemic.
GVSA secretary Cynthia Gorry said it was important for members of the group to spend as much time together as possible following two years of lockdowns and restrictions.
She said the market was a chance for many people to come together and share what they had been doing during lockdowns.
“A lot of us were growing plants and making things and knitting and doing all these hobbies, and we thought it might be nice to make a profit from our hobbies,” she said.
A raffle will be drawn towards the end of the market on October 22, with members of the Australian-Filipino Community Services appearing as special guests on the day.
Those wanting to attend Floriade are encouraged to send a message to 0449 077 849.
The festival will be held at the Shepparton Senior Citizens’ Centre on Welsford St from 10am to 2pm.
