Cobram Community House is running a basic barista course on Friday, February 17 between 9.30am and 2.30pm at their premises at 43-45 Punt Rd, Cobram.
Attendees will learn how to create a perfect cup of coffee with the Community House’s in-house baristas and commercial coffee machine.
Cobram Community House manager Christine Osborne said the course was all part of their mission to engage with and assist the community.
“Cobram Community House has a number of courses to develop people’s employability skills as well as address personal interest,” Mrs Osborne said.
“Traditionally people have had to travel long distances to attend a barista course and this way the course comes to them. We are also responding to a great need in our tourist area.”
Mrs Osborne is hoping that attendees enjoy learning a worthwhile skill while having fun in a relaxed atmosphere.
The Cobram Community House holds a number of educational courses throughout the year and also runs the popular Chatty Cafe.
Trained baristas can find themselves work in most hospitality facilities including cafes, restaurants, pubs and dedicated coffee houses.
According to the website My Future employment within the hospitality industry, specifically employment of those serving food and beverages along with related workers, is set to grow 17 per cent from 2020 to 2030.
Bookings for the basic barista course are required by Thursday, February 16.
