The 31st Rochester Elmore District Health Service annual general meeting was held on Monday, January 20, providing an overview of the past year and acknowledging the contributions of staff to the health service.

Held at the 4Rs, REDHS chair Christopher White, deputy chair Bradley Drust, board directors David Rosaia, Anne-Marie Kelly and Melissa Silk attended, along with its chief executive Mary Manescu, Echuca Regional Health chief executive Robyn Lindsay, Murray Primary Health Network chief executive Matt Jones and Bendigo Health chief executive Eileen Hannagan.
Mr White recognised the widespread efforts over the past two years as the hospital was rebuilt, with staff ready to welcome residents back to community and aged care at the end of this month.
He also thanked the support of the board, Bupa Aged Care, Respect Tongala, REDHS volunteers, builders and contractors, residents and their families, and surrounding health services, including ERH, KDHS, Bendigo Health and GVHealth.
“I’m very proud of our team and the determination to ensure that we are as prepared as possible,” he said.
“I would like to say a special thanks to all REDHS staff. Your resilience throughout this whole journey has been huge.
“The care you continue to show for our patients, our residents and each other is very inspiring.”
The long service and retirement of staff was celebrated at the AGM, with Rochester Business Network gift cards presented as a token of thanks.
For 10 years of service, Kellyann Clarke, Natasha Collins, Rebecca Moon, Melissa Seelenmeyer, Naomi Watson, Kay Franklin and Tracie Scott were honoured.
For 15 years of service, Mandy Dockery and Dianne Paynter were honoured.
For 20 years of service, Lynn Wolfe was honoured.
For 25 years of service, Nicole Hickey was honoured.
Recently retired staff Janice Prigg, Sherill Carr, Dorothy Smith and Valerie Naughton were acknowledged for their collective 143 years of experience.
Outgoing board directors Jodie Smith and Ben Devanny, who took on their positions in 2016 and 2017 respectively, were also recognised.
Mr White also shared updates on the planned opening of the remaining departments.
Urgent Care is set to open on Tuesday, January 28. Its opening hours will be 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Aged Care and Community Care, including Home Care and Allied Health, will reopen on Thursday, January 30. Elmore, Rushworth and Lockington will also continue to provide allied health services.
The Social Support Group will start up from Friday, January 31 and exercise classes from Monday, February 3.
Campaspe Medical Centre is set to open in late February.
Mr White closed the meeting by celebrating the efforts of the REDHS community.
“REDHS could not have achieved what we did in the last year without the ongoing work of the entire REDHS team,” he said.
“Thank you for your dedication and willingness to respond in a period where resilience and commitment were tested in extremely difficult circumstances.
“To this day, our team continue to go above and beyond to ensure our residents feel safe and loved, and our communities receive the care and services despite the impact of the flood event.
“We could not be prouder of every single one of our team, and count ourselves lucky and privileged to work alongside them every day.”
