This group does a tremendous job of maintaining and improving the Finley Lake and surrounds with limited official funding, despite the lake being one of the main attractions in the community and a prominent feature when entering Finley on the Newell Highway.
Secretary John Lacy advised the donation would assist with many of the costs of upkeeping the facility.
These include servicing the mowers, herbicides for weed control, replacement of trees, new back fencing, removal of old trees and stumps, paying for piping leak repairs at the Finley Caravan Park leased by the Finley Lake Land Management Board and many more.
“The group would appreciate any financial assistance to continue these works,” John said.
Finley 2nd Hand Shop would also be most appreciative of donations of goods for sale, with proceeds donated back into the many community groups as a result.
Unfortunately, goods in unsaleable condition are continuing to be left at the venue, often when the shop is not open, resulting in time and money wasted in disposal.
The volunteers ask that only saleable items be left outside of opening hours.

Local identity John Lacy and his family attended a get-together recently to celebrate one of the four brother’s special birthday.
Peter, Brendan, John and Andrew have an agreement that, when they turn 70, they decide where the family will meet up to enjoy the birthday.
With Peter the brothers went to Kanchanaburi, Thailand to see Hellfire Pass as their father was a Prisoner of War in World War II and a medical orderly.
This time, Brendan decided on Adelaide with West Beach Park playground and pool a hub for the children and grandchildren.
The brothers visited Kangaroo Island and stayed at Aldinga Beach close to McLaren Vale wineries to wrap up a great 70th celebration.

The first open exhibition of a local artist’s work at the Finley Art Network held at the clubrooms last Saturday was a huge success.
Visitors to the gallery were impressed with Graham Falconer’s work as well as that of the other members of the network.
The exhibition will be open for the rest of the month giving everyone an opportunity to call in and witness the wonderful talent of Finley artists.
A special morning and afternoon tea was supplied for the opening day; however, the members are still happy to make a cuppa and biscuit for all visitors.
The group would welcome anyone interested in becoming a member.
The facility, which is generously made available by the Berrigan Shire Council, is a great place to begin a future in painting and receiving encouragement from other artists.
As they say, “you won’t know if you don’t try”.
For the cost of a small yearly membership fee and $2 per attendance for morning/afternoon tea, anyone can explore their hidden talents.

Finley Local Health Advisory Committee would like to thank the community for the support given to the Australian Skin Cancer Foundation bus recently.
The bus was fully booked for the day with many locals taking advantage of being able to ‘drop in’ for a quick skin check.
The members would also like to sincerely thank Finley Hospital Auxiliary and Southern Riverina Vehicle and Machinery Club Inc for their sponsorship of this vital service to our community.

Parkinson’s is more common than many people realise, affecting more than 200,000 Australians.

Parkinson’s Australia aims to promote the best possible quality of life for people with Parkinson’s.
