Hamish has been training and fundraising for several months to support the organisation that promotes physical and mental health to help push people beyond what they perceive as normal limitations.
Its aim is to foster physical, mental, emotional growth and development, as well as supporting ex-military veterans and first responder groups.
The Walking 4 Warriors 2025 Endurance Challenge starts at 6pm on Good Friday, and encourages participants to keep moving throughout either a three, six, 12 and 24-hour challenge period.
Starting from Dennis Park in Boyne Island, Queensland, participants do this by running, walking or even crawling continuously each hour.
While Hamish is going to Queensland to take part, anyone can take part in the challenge where they live, or event virtually.
Virtual participants are to be tracked by some form of activity monitor.
The in-person participating fee is $75, or $65 if completing it virtually.
All funds raised by Hamish will go straight to Walking 4 Warriors to assist them in directly providing programs and opportunities for the community to support each other.
With the event coming up quickly, Hamish said he was pleased with the physical and mental conditioning he’s been doing in the lead-up to the event.
“Training is going well. I’m keeping up my fitness by regular runs and with soccer training,” he said.
“I’m feeling pretty good about it, but the mental side of things will be tough.”
Hamish has so far raised $150 on his GoFundMe page, which he said was through various charitable avenues.
“Fundraising has been going really well with generous donations and people donating cans and bottles (to be recycled for the cash back).”
