Reilly and John, both well-known faces behind the bar, will be bidding farewell to their luscious locks to raise much-needed funds for the McGrath Foundation.
The head-shaving event is set to take place during this Sunday's highly anticipated High Tea event, which has already sold out due to the overwhelming support from the local community.
Attendees will not only witness the selfless act of Reilly and John but also have the opportunity to participate in auctions, raffles, lucky door prize draws, and the highly anticipated best hat and best-dressed competitions.
Leading the proceedings will be esteemed local auctioneer Peter Ellis, who has graciously offered his services for the event.
While Reilly will be donating his beautiful long locks to Wigs for Kids, a charitable organisation providing wigs to children experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions, John, who hasn’t cut his hair since December, has coloured his hair a vibrant shade of pink which he will be shaving off during the event as well.
Co-organiser Kay Blakeley said she was thrilled to see these two young men to lend a hand and make a difference.
“Reilly and John weren’t asked to do this but volunteered to do so. For two young people, I’m really happy to see their willingness to support our event and the McGrath Foundation,” she said.
“The support we've received from the local community for the high tea event has been overwhelming, and I'm confident that together we can make a significant impact in raising funds for breast cancer nurses.”
The McGrath Foundation was established by Jane McGrath and her husband, Australian cricket player Glenn McGrath, after Jane's own diagnosis with breast cancer at the young age of 31. The foundation is dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness, offering support to those affected by the disease, and funding McGrath Breast Care Nurses who provide essential care in communities throughout the country.
Anyone wishing to contribute to Reilly and John’s noble cause in the lead up to Sunday’s event can visit Kylie Witherden at her shop Thrive on Sanger Street. Every donation, no matter how small, will go towards the McGrath Foundation's mission of providing vital funds for breast cancer nurses in communities all across Australia.
