The Young Suns took a brilliant 2-1 win against Brunswick City, the final whistle met with jubilant scenes from the juniors as they devoured the sweet taste of success for the first time.
Ciaan O'Brien scored the game's first goal on 29 minutes, and the Suns were two to the good soon after via Lucas Cirillo's 37th-minute strike.
With a new NPL junior structure meaning teams will take part in an 11-round pre-qualification phase before being placed into one of three graded tiers, the Suns have been placed in the Northern League and have made the perfect start to making one of the higher grades.
It was a tougher start to the campaign for the under-15s, falling 7-0 to the same opposition.
City broke through on 19 minutes and added another two goals in the first half and it kept the foot down in the second half in scoring another four.
And the under-16s were also beaten first up against City, eventually falling 4-1.
City scored twice in the first 25 minutes, but Isaak Rehm gave the Suns a lifeline early in the second half with a goal in the 47th minute.
The young Suns pushed on in search of an equaliser, but City put the game to bed with a quick-fire double.
The junior season rolls on this Sunday as the Suns host Melbourne Victory at McEwen Reserve.
